Tackling Violence Against Women and Girls in Sport

A collaborative project between UN Women and UNESCO, ‘Tackling Violence Against Women and Girls in Sport’ is a handbook intended for policymakers and sport practitioners. Spanning over four years, the project aims to address and mitigate violence against women and girls in the sports arena.

UNESCO, a longstanding client, recommended Playing Field to act as design partners for the final phase of the project. Their goal was to create an engaging yet practical handbook with a strong focus on positivity and empowerment, bringing this significant body of work to life.

SPOTLIGHT
ON SPORT

Featuring a vibrant colour palette, bold typography, and a graphic illustrative style, the design unified the diverse stakeholders behind this toolkit and put the spotlight on the sport itself.

MULTIPLE LANGUAGES

The brief called for a dynamic and engaging design, but usability was equally important. The flexible module design system, with adaptable assets and illustrations, was created to be easily translated into multiple languages. This approach aimed to reach a larger audience, maximise impact, influence more policies, and ultimately help more women and girls.

“The Playing Field team is incredible and amazing. They were recommended without any reservation. I’m now a big fan too!”
