GB Olympians
50 Year Reunion

GB Olympians approached Playing Field to provide a full event branding package, including a logo, identity, printed menus, animated graphics and a film, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the 1976 Innsbruck and Montreal Olympic Games.

We immersed ourselves in both the Winter and Summer games, finding inspiration from the past to develop a look and feel that evoked the essence of the events with a distinctly red, white and blue GB tone.

Event in a Box

Any successful event begins with a strong identity. Starting with the logo, we deconstructed all elements on the table, from GB Olympians core logo, the rounded qualities of the number, and the unique characteristics of the iconic Montreal and Innsbruck Olympic Games logos. During our development, we found ways to combine these elements to create an event logo which brought all the components together to celebrate the athletes competing for GBR.

Printed Items

From there, we expanded the logo to create a cohesive identity spanning across a specially finished foil-blocked printed menu, giving gravitas to the occasion and honouring the athlete guests in attendance.

Film and Motion

To make the event a real occasion, we created a film and motion graphics package utilising archive material provided by the BBC and International Olympic Committee, which was then edited by students from UCFB (University Campus of Football Business) who are now embarking on broadcast careers in Sport.

The beautiful archival imagery was brought together with our animated logo, Innsbruck and Montreal titles and a credits roll inspired by 70s television graphics.
